YES! If you don’t believe us, just come along to one of the sessions and talk to people already on the sessions.
We think you will benefit by participating and so does your doctor, so why not give it a try and book your place now...
This will largely depend upon how much effort you put into maintaining your exercise programme. People who have enrolled onto our activities have already shown improvements such as reduced blood pressure, weight loss and improved flexibility. However, just as important are the psychological benefits, such as “I feel better in myself” or “I don’t get so tired anymore”.
LEAPActive - Aims and objectives
LEAPActive is part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Health Promotion Service specialising is physical activity support. LEAPActive works with people of all ages but targets activities for individuals who are 11-16 or over 50. We offer a wide range of programmes aimed at increasing awareness of why we should be physically active in our daily lives and provides practical opportunities to get people motivated to make positive lifestyle changes.
Participants will be identified on a referral basis, where partners to the project e.g. physiotherapists, GP’s and school teachers are able to refer individuals who may benefit from an increase in physical activity. In addition any individual who feels that they could benefit from increased activity levels can self- refer to some of our programmes.
Aims & Objectives:
Aim:
- The overall aim of LEAPActive is to encourage more people to become more physically active in their own locality, to improve health and to help promote social inclusion.
Objectives:
- To be a point of contact for local people who have been recommended to become physically active and provide advice about the recommendations and the health benefits of physical activity.
- To provide information about appropriate physical activity available in the locality and support the individual to tailor a programme to meet their needs.
- To bring the health and leisure sectors together in partnership to provide information and support for those at risk of developing or recovering from medical conditions.
