Surely I will find the exercise too exhausting?

NO, pain is the body’s way of telling you that you are overdoing it. In fact, we insist that you follow our safety guidelines.

Please remember – the ultimate responsibility for your health lies with you. Only you know how you are feeling so be sure to stick to these guidelines.

Psychological Effects Of Swimming

Being in the water can have great psychological benefits, as the pool can ‘take you away from it all’ and the feeling of being in the water can be a refreshing, relaxing and liberating experience as the water takes your weight.

Psychological studies have shown that swimmers report significantly less tension, depression, anger, confusion, and they gain more energy than in other types of exercise. This was experienced by both new and experienced swimmers.

Activites: Weight Matters

Weight Matters is a lifestyle programme that can help you manage your weight, improve your health and improve your quality of life.

It incorporates a team of people who cover healthy eating, food labelling, triggers, physical activity and a lot more.

If an individual is over weight it is likely that they have tried all kind of diets. Some attempts may have been successful for a while however, if they are still overweight, it probably means the changes that were made were too hard to keep forever!

About Weight Matters

Weight Matters is not a diet or eating plan and is not just about weight loss. It is about making a change to your lifestyle, taking small steps to make healthier eating choices and choosing activities that you enjoy. Whilst this programme can help people who want to lose weight, it is also useful for people who want to avoid putting on more weight. Most importantly Weight Matters is about keeping healthy, whatever your weight.

The 6 week Weight Matters Programme consists of 2 parts, each session lasting two hours, in the first part we will look at lifestyle changes and in the second part we get active!"

Aims

The Weight Matters Programme will help you to:

  • limit further weight gain,
  • achieve modest weight loss,
  • get into a regular eating pattern,
  • balance the types of food that you eat,
  • reduce your tendency to overeat,
  • become more physically active.

Weight Matters Programmes will be running throughout the year in different districts but for those of you who live in and around Truro we have an 8-week programme starting on Wednesday 1pm-3pm at Trelander Children Centre, Truro.
